654- The possible benefits of AI for podcast guesting

In this episode of The Podcast Reporter Show, we discuss a topic in the area of AI (Artificial intelligence) in podcasting. One such theme is that of Chat GPT and the notion that there are some benefits within the environment of AI for podcast guesting.

Now, we have discussed podcast guesting in several recent episodes, and here, we see that a podcaster, Tom Schwab of  the podcast show, Interview Valet, has brought to our attention in a recent email which he sent out to his distribution list in the podosphere.

He introduces his themes with these words: “Changes in technology and market trends mean you can never become too comfortable in your systems. Just as you’re getting into a smooth rhythm the market shifts or a big new tech tool is released (Hello ChatGPT) forcing you to pivot.”

In particular, he mentions that there is a productivity and content creation aspect with this tool: “How can it help us work more efficiently so that they can focus their attention on the areas that matter – human interaction.”

He has found several ways of being more productive and producing benefits for his site and his show, especially in the area of content creation. In fact, he shares with us how he is getting benefit from AI:

Ways we are using AI at IV [Interview Valet]:

  • Writing show notes from podcast interview transcriptions
  • Extracting key points from meeting transcriptions without listening to the entire replay
  • Streamlining our processes (read: reducing overhead)”

He then goes on with a description of how he has been using AI for Podcast Guesting: “AI has made podcast interviews even more powerful and easier than before:

  • Write your bio for your media kit
  • Write your suggested intro for podcast hosts
  • Interview topic suggestions to use for your interview
  • Write a suggested intro on why you would be an ideal guest on a specific podcast show
  • Find podcasts in your specific niche
  • Write show notes from your interviews
  • Draft a blog to feature your interview on your website
  • Pull content from your interviews for social media posts or emails to your list”

In his opinion, “It gives the audience a personalized touch they can’t access in other media…You can establish yourself as an authority in your industry, while also building a genuine relationships with the host and their listeners… Leading to consistent positive ROI through increased website traffic, quality leads, and quicker close on sales.”

He is also focused on trying to help podcasters by extending a helping focus on Podcast Guesting For Coaches & Consultants for business growth and brand expansion.

It seems interesting to me that he is taking the view that this could be helpful, instead of following the nay-sayers that see AI and ChatGPT as a threat to freedom and a doomsday of content creativity.

Perhaps his focus can give some ideas as to the benefits for podcasters once they decide that they want to pursue podcast guesting as a way to build their business and pursue success.

Thank you for your attention and for listening.

529- Podcasting on 9-11 — how pandemics can affect podcasting

In this episode of The Podcast Reporter, we deliver an episode that deals with 2 issues: (1) a podcast episode that has some remembrance of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. (and its effects on podcasting); and (2) how the post-pandemic environment is affecting podcasting (especially audio quality).

11 September 2001

In this first topic, we have seen how terrorism from the Muslim extremists have changed our environment. And many podcast shows are now mentioning the threat of extreme muslim attacks within the USA, in order to destroy the fabric of the American culture, American environment, American system of productivity, American capitalism and American nationalism (and they are, of course, aided by the Democrats in congress, as well as the incumbent white house tenant, Bo-Jiden.

So now, with the censorship in full mode with the Social justice warrior and woke cultures, neither the lame-stream media nor the social media dare to speak out on this topic and include both sides of the conversation (because of the refusal to really communicate both sides), the podcast shows were the only pillar of trying to deconstruct the issues and hear both sides of the conversation, with proof points in the form of articles, audio and video clips and past promises and statements that catch the bad actors (like Fauci and Bo-Jiden) contradicting themselves on the “promises” made to the public.

However, the podcast community has many shows as of the date of this episode when the content was created that delivers the true journalistic approach of having an intelligent conversation and fair discussion and a non-censored approach that would promote any political narrative to the listener — in fact, the listener would be encouraged to use his own critical thinking to analyze the situation and then make up his own mind, instead of being brainwashed by the lame-stream media and social media.

Such are the shows like No Agenda with Adam Curry and John C. Dvorak, as well as Randumb Thoughts with Darren O’Neill, as well as Grumpy Old Bens with both O’Neill and Ryan Bemrose, and even Dean Reiner of Up is Down podcast. Now, there are more, but these are the ones which I feel have been outstanding on their own merit of fairness and exposing the hypocrisy of the lame-stream media, as well as exploring both sides of the conversation or issue.

We certainly hope that it will continue to do so in a fair and accurate way of delivering truthful and uncensored content to the listeners.

Post-Pademic Audio quality for podcasts

In addition, we wanted to let you know that there is some discussion as to the effects of the sham-demic (many people refer to this as pandemic) environment in creating content and its quality and publishing it.

In an earlier article from current.org, this issue is discussed, with the emphasis being on at-home recordings and productions of podcast content for shows — and especially, the lower quality that has resulted from not emphasizing professional audio quality standards.

How at-home pandemic recordings are changing pubmedia’s standards for audio quality

Yes, with the lock-downs that occurred, the poor quality from the Zoom meetings and other episodes recorded from locations within the home, the audio quality has lacked the professionalism which delivered good content to the listeners before the year 2020.

And now, as the article states, self-recording techniques and apps and other “solutions” have been trying to address this situation.

However, as with everything involved with the lockdowns and other restrictive measures in 2020, we see this quality NOT IMPROVING, but merely being “accepted” by the audiences (who will throw the baby-out-with-the-bath-water) and just assume that poorer quality will be the norm for the future.

We hope that this is not so, and we encourage you, the podcaster, to deliver your content with great audio quality and as professionally recorded and edited and published as could be.

Thank you for your attention.

443- Tribute to Podfather Adam Curry for creating shows

In this episode, we focus on Adam Curry, the previous VJ from MTV in years past, who is known as the Podfather — since he and Dave Winer are the creators of podcasting. In today’s environment, Adam is the host of a podcast show, No Agenda, along with John C Dvorak, his co-host.

In particular, we include a prior repurposed episode when I interviewed Adam Curry in Austin to speak about the upcoming podcast show, 2030podcast.com. In fact, as you will hear in this audio episode, it also has been included as episode 1 of that show, 2030podcast.com.

Thus, this repurposed episode (it was episode # 97 of this show, podcastreporter.com) can give you an idea of how another podcast show was spawned with the suggestion and creative thoughts of Adam Curry.

So we hope that you will enjoy this repurposed episode from the live interview in Austin with Adam Curry and myself — especially when we discuss how his suggestion has actually resulted in my podcast show that will discuss the possible coming issues and environment for the year 2030 (and events leading up to that time).

[Editor’s note: the reference to the hardware solution for Podcaster Pro from Adam Curry was canceled, due to the inability to get the minimum order in crowdfunding. Adam delivers the details in several episodes of his No Agenda show.]

Thank you for your attention, and we shall see you next time.

410- Podcasters as the next generation of Entrepreneurs

In this repurposed episode of PodcastReporter.com, we narrate a published article from the older Podcast User magazine (now podfaded) with evergreen content about the stage of new podcasters entering the podosphere.

The name of the article is “Are podcasters the next generation of struggling entrepreneurs?” and it was created by myself, Fred Castaneda.

This was originally published in the older Podcast User magazine as hardcopy in issue 21, pages 39-40. Then it was narrated in the podcast show The Struggling Entrepreneur, and more recently in the small business podcast show called The Struggling Biz.  And so it is now repurposed from this latter podcast show, as it was published as the prior episode number 56 in 2020.

As you will hear in this podcast audio episode, the key questions concerning monetization of podcasts within the podosphere for those solo-preneurs and other small business owners.

I hope that this episode will deliver value of asking you to contemplate some key thoughts in your possible quest to monetization.

Thank you for your attention.
