84- Screencaster widens his skills with Podcasting- Dean Haycox

The following episode is a repurposed episode from the podcast show called SKILLS IN SCREENCASTS AND PODCASTS. It is very related to the topic of a full-time ambulance personnel aspiring to become a full-time entrepreneur — and how a screencaster became a podcaster and improved his skills in New Media.

In this episode, we interview Dean Haycox, the screencaster who is providing free resources to aspiring and professional screencasters. He is based out of the UK (United Kingdom), but he delivers his message and resources worldwide via his web site.

Dean is the owner of www.ScreencastMagazine.com — but the name is not totally descriptive, for it is really a blog that provides resources, show notes and the audio episodes of his audio podcast called SCREENCAST ACADEMY with Dean Haycox.

As you will hear in this audio interview, we cover Dean’s background — from logistics in the military to his full-time present job as an ambulance personnel. However, he has a passion for both geology and screencasting — and he recently launched his audio podcast on iTunes, with episode 11 as an interview with Matt Pierce of Techsmith.com.

In addition to some recommendations and tutorials, Dean also is making available his free pdf of 50 pages called THE SCREENCASTERS BLUEPRINT (a free 50-page guide to Video Marketing for Small Business Owners that describes How to successfully grow your business with video marketing).

ScreencastersBlueprint

Dean’s “magazine” has evolved into a resource site with show notes and audio episodes of his podcast, as well as a library of valuable resources in screencasting.

Slide3Dean has plans for creating offerings, services, products and membership sites for screencasting — although he stated very strongly that most of his content will be free to his listeners and viewers. He also aspires to be a presenter and participant in upcoming conferences and business shows (both in Europe and the US) that deal with New Media — especially screencasting and podcasting. We are certain that he will fulfill his mission soon of becoming a full-time screencaster and podcaster.

83- How screencasts can help create 8 deliverables for you

In this episode, we discuss the eight major deliverables that can be incorporated to create effective Screencasts. We also describe some major software programs and tools for creating and editing the screencasts. And finally, we discuss which programs we ourselves use and why, as well as how you can improve your business by being a subject matter expert, or by offering services in screencasting for hire.

Skills in Screencasts and Podcasts-2014

The first part reviews 8 different deliverables by creating screencasts:

1.  Synchronized screen capture — that is, audio and video (used quite a bit for software demos);

2. Full-motion videos — your created content (e.g., from amateur smart phone cameras or from more sophisticated cameras);

3. Documentaries, b-roll, or other videos and video clips;

4. Powerpoint (R) presentations with synchronized audio and video animations, etc.

5. Interactivity in training with quizzes, hotspots, links, etc.

6. Video effects and animations — e.g., callouts, zooms, pans, lower thirds, more movement animations, etc.

7. Audio segments, audio clips, music, sound effects, etc.

8. Tutorials for creating courses, training, education, eLearning, etc.

___________________________________________

We also covered some tools like PowerPoint from Microsoft,(R) as well as SnagIt and Camtasia Studio from Techsmith(R).

And finally, we shared with you which platform, tools and recording/editing software we use, and why we feel they meet our needs for marketing, sales and creating courses. We take it one step further and describe for you how these additional skills can give you an entry into Services for screencasts, or how you can create a course as a subject matter expert and market/sell it yourself.

We lastly mention the program and membership site that can help you acquire those skills from www.LearnCamtasia.com.

69- Legal issues today for podcasts and blab and screencasts

This episode is an interview with David Lizerbram of www.lizerbramlaw.com, conducted by Lon Naylor and myself of www.SkillsInScreencastsAndPodcasts.com.

Skills in Screencasts and Podcasts-2014

As you will hear in this audio episode, David Lizerbram has recently entered the podosphere as of 2 November 2015 as a Podcaster with his show called Products of the Mind (available in iTunes(R) and other locations. What is interesting is that this podcast is not entirely about the law of New Media. While he does provide excellent coverage of legal issues (e.g., in episode 2, the discussion of the Law of Trademarks), he also includes themes about CREATIVITY, BUSINESS, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, etc. — along with some interviews of key innovators.

With a varied and interesting background of experience in film, music and media, he discusses his philosophy of providing assistance to entrepreneurs, especially in the New Media Space that includes Podcasting, Screencasting, as well as other new tools that are entrants in the video streaming environment that provide “blabbing” and “scoping” (i.e., periscope and blab).

David Lizerbram

In addition,  David shares with us his ebook called Podcast Law, which is free at this time from his web site (see below for link). It is a layman’s guide for easy understanding on topics from trademarks, copyright, music and audio, ads, testimonials, endorsements to monetization and interviewing.
