17- Interview with early podcaster and “Chief Disruption Officer” – Evo Terra

This is an interview with one of the keynote speakers from the first annual Podcast Movement Conference, Evo Terra. However, Evo has been one of the earliest podcasters, a Podiobooks producer, a blogger, an author, a public speaker — and now he gives himself the title of being a “Chief Disruption Officer” of www.bigbounce.co.

As you will hear in this audio episode, Evo describes what he means by “disruption” — as he stated in his keynote address at the recent Podcast Movement conference.

Evo also gives his perspectives of podcasting — but neither as an industry nor a community. He also delivers his views of where podcasting may be going, and how disruption can be a variable that can lead to innovation and success.

As you will hear in this audio episode, he is currently the “Chief Disruption Officer” at Big Bounce. He is also assisting startups to become COMPANIES with their direction, offerings and products that are DISRUPTIVE.

 About Evo Terra:

Evo Terra has led innovative and disruptive strategies for 20 years. In business, he’s launched and managed enterprise-level commerce platforms and directed international agency teams. As an educator, he’s hosted nationally syndicated radio programs, authored many instructional books, and is a nationally known speaker. Bonus Episode 5 – Podcaster becomes Change Agent – Case study – Dave Jackson

In addition to being a podcaster, Dave Jackson has become a successful and beneficial CHANGE AGENT in podcasting — he is a success story, which is also the case study for this episode.

As you will hear in this audio episode, Dave Jackson (from the School of Podcasting show) did not plan or set out to be a change agent. He merely told the facts from his experience in helping other podcasters fix their situation and get away from Blog Talk Radio. He has always been vocal about the shortcomings of Blog Talk Radio, and he has been giving constructive criticism by voicing his opinion.

Instead of a confrontation, Dave was thanked by a representative from Blog Talk Radio for his constructive criticism, and now the program is on its way to being improved (of course, with Dave providing review and oversight responsibility).

As you will hear Dave in this audio interview state that not only the podcasting community wins — but everybody wins.

If you want to hear his interview with the representative from Blog Talk Radio, it is episode 422 at http://www.schoolofpodcasting.com/422. You can also look at the archives at the School of Podcasting and go to the epiosde in the March-April, 2011, time frame called “Voicing Your Opinion.”

Also, Dave shares with us his perspectives of delivering content with factual comparisons of programs, products, offerings or shows that need improvement, as well as recommendations for improvements. Political correctness should be avoided, even if to avoid “hurting someone’s feelings.” Otherwise, the podcaster who needs help may not even be aware of the problems that exist — and so how can they be fixed?

 About Dave Jackson:

Dave Jackson is the man behind the School of Podcasting (the original website that teaches people how to podcast). He has been podcasting since 2005 and has over 1000 episodes under his belt. He has been teaching people technology in an fun an entertaining fashion for over 20 years. He has numerous podcast award nominations, and speaks at events all over the country.

He also has a FREE interactive session on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Eastern time called Ask the Podcast Coach. Here, Dave will take live calls by telephone and address their questions. In addition, the chat room is very lively, informative and mutually helpful. This live session (on both google hangout and Mixlr) is also recorded and is available as a podcast on iTunes, and it is called Ask the Podcast Coach.

Bonus Episode 4- Updated Review – one month later- PodMovU

This Podcast Reporter’s perspective is the second review of www.podmov.com, or PodMov University, which went live on 15 July 2014. The review is one month later, on 19 August 2014 — and the results are very disappointing.

PodMov-welcome screen- 15July2014

Let me first say that this Podcast Reporter was one of the early customers to sign up for this program when it was announced. With great expectations from the hype and promises of this program, this Podcast Reporter even contributed some content (which is now included in what is classified as an “Expert Tutorial”) and hoped that this program would succeed, both as a paying customer and as a donor and contributor.

This second look at this site, which is a premium offering from the “faculty” of this program, examines the navigation, the features, the sections in the dashboard — and whether or not they meet the expectation of value that was promised to those who signed up for a paid monthly fee.

As you will hear in this audio episode, unfortunately, the value was not delivered — and the episode tells you why.

With hopes that this offering gets fixed, the only recommendation that this Podcast Reporter can make is that you should probably stay away from this fee offering and look at better alternatives like:

Dave Jackson’s School of Podcasting (which is also cheaper on a year’s subscription);

John Lee Dumas and his Podcasters’ Paradise; or

Daniel J Lewis’s Podcast Master Class.

However, if you wish to get FREE resources that are much better than PodMov.com and deliver a richer experience and greater value, then you should consider:

– Dave Jackson’s ASK THE PODCAST COACH on Saturday mornings, with live call-in from the audience and also live demonstration to answer a question on a google hangout;

or

The Podcasters Community on google+.

Our next and final review of this PodMov.com program will be in about 4 to 5 weeks, to see if any of the situations mentioned in the audio episode are, indeed, fixed or not.

14- Interview with Jonny Andrews at Podcast Movement conference

We deliver an interview with Jonny Andrews, a first-time attendee to a Podcast event. On the first day of Podcast Movement conference, he shared with us his growth from published content (i.e., books to be read) into podcasting.

However, Jonny is no stranger to entrepreneurship or success in marketing and growing your audience. As you will hear in this podcast episode, he is getting a great deal of value from the Podcast Movement Conference.

He also has a relatively new podcast called “Audience Hacker”  at www.audiencehacker.com.

About Jonny Andrews:

Since discovering how to “hack” the publishing industry, Jonny Andrews has been known as the “go to guy” for author entrepreneurs when it comes to launching a successful business or books by growing their audience first.  His techniques for using “leveraged” publishing systems landed his personal book on the Kindle homepage feature for Business & Investing producing tens of thousands of downloads.  He has also propelled clients works to over 15,000 sales in their first week, hitting #10 on Amazon and #2 on the Wall Street Journal.  His systems have helped thousands create massive publishing successes in both fiction & nonfiction by the use of a simple but powerful 3 step “clarity hacking” process.

As you will hear in this audio interview, Jonny may be contemplating adding podcasters to his potential audience or client set.

11D- Overall review- Podcast Movement Conference- this Reporter’s perspective

This episode gives a brief review of the Podcast Movement conference, held in Dallas, Texas, on August 15-18, 2014.

In summary, the conference seemed to be a success. The objectives that Gary Leland had described to us earlier were:

(1) the attendees and participants should have a great time and lots of fun; and

(2) everyone should leave with the value of having learned a great deal about podcasting to make themselves successful.

In short, the fun, excitement, euphoria and passion of the earlier Expos finally came alive in a different manner with this community of the Podosphere.

As you will hear in this episode, there were three things that stood out during this conference:

(1) The energy, passion and excitement of the event and the community feeling that it caused;

(2) The vendors that shared their information in a good manner within the layout; and

(3) The speakers and the level of topics..

During the last day of the event, there was an offer of a discount to any attendees that wanted to purchase the ticket to the 2015 Podcast Movement conference (next year) in Fort Worth, Texas.

So, congratulations to Gary Leland for having put on a successful conference and event. We look forward to seeing another great event, where podcasters can come, network, share, learn and have a great time doing so as they go on their path for their success.
